UAE Launches AI 'Eye' System to Automate Work Permit Approvals

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has launched its new AI-powered “Eye” system at GITEX Global 2025. The platform is designed to automate work permit approvals, aiming to reduce processing times, cut costs, and boost the UAE’s competitiveness in attracting global talent.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has unveiled a new AI-powered system named “Eye” at GITEX Global 2025, designed to automate the processing of work permits. The initiative aims to significantly reduce approval times, lower operational costs, and enhance the efficiency of the UAE’s labour market.

The “Eye” system functions by automatically analysing and verifying essential documents, including personal photos, passports, and academic certificates. An AI agent verifies the authenticity and completeness of the submitted data, which minimises the potential for human error and reduces the need for manual reviews, except in rare cases.

This automation is expected to dramatically shorten hiring cycles for employers across the UAE, strengthening the nation’s ability to attract and onboard global talent—a key component of its economic diversification strategy. The streamlined process supports both mainland and free-zone companies by reducing administrative delays.

“We are proud to unveil the ‘Eye’ system, which marks a new innovative step towards enhancing the Ministry’s services in line with global digital transformation trends,” stated Rashid Hassan Al Saadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Market Services at MoHRE. “The system reflects the Ministry’s high level of digital readiness, our leading role in supporting ambitious national directives, and our commitment to advancing innovation and AI applications across all labour market fields.”

The launch is part of a broader push towards digital governance. The UAE government reports that over 80% of its customer-facing services are now digitised or AI-enabled. This new system complements other programmes aimed at attracting skilled professionals, such as the comprehensive UAE Golden Visa benefits.

At GITEX, MoHRE also showcased other digital transformation projects, including:

  • Work Bundle: A unified platform to simplify work permit and residency procedures.
  • Ask Data: An AI-driven analytics tool for real-time labour market insights.
  • Forecasting Future Jobs and Skills: A predictive tool for labour market trends.

These initiatives align with the government’s wider strategy to create a supportive environment for businesses and startups, as seen with the recent launch of the Dubai Founders HQ. By investing in automation, MoHRE is solidifying the UAE’s reputation as a hub for next-generation government services, where AI could soon be used for more complex tasks like compliance checks and predictive workforce planning.
