The city is divided by the Bay of Khor Dubai into three large areas – the beach of Jumeira, the northern business district of Deira, and the southern district of Bar Dubai, which houses the Emir’s palace, the offices of most companies, banks, and the port.
Bur Dubai is one of the most modern areas and at the same time a focal point of Dubai’s historical past. Museums, ancient buildings, historical neighborhoods that are close to the mega modern Dubai World Trade Center, which brings together visitors from all over the world, are successfully inscribed in the modern area. In the evenings, the district blossoms with colorful neon lights. In Bar Dubai, Diwan, a public institution, is located where the Government deals with matters of national importance. Besides, the area is literally filled with numerous restaurants and cafés.
The neighborhood is a paradise for the likes of old times. Here, in the historical part of the city of Al Shindagha, you can see the ancient Arabian houses with courtyards and beautiful wind towers. The historic Heritage Village can be visited by any tourist-free of charge.
The museum – Fort Al Fahidi and the diving village are distinguished by very interesting exhibitions, including underground ones, and in the house-museum of the founder of the UAE Sheikh Said Al Maktoum, there are 30 rooms with unique and interesting exhibits.
The mosques in the area are also attractive to tourists. The large mosque resembles a magical Disney cartoon castle outside. From a distance, you can see its 54 white domes, which look like delicious marshmallows.
The Bar Juman Shopping Centre will be impressed by its original architecture and its huge selection of world-famous brands. The most stylish shopping mall – Wafi offers to visit more than 250 boutiques. National gifts and souvenirs can be bought at the Khan Mujan Arab Indoor Market. On the textile market, you can buy natural silk, wool, chiffon, tweed from all over the world. You can go to the Indian quarter, where there are clothes shops much cheaper.
Dubai Airport is 5 km from the center. From there you can reach the Bar-Dubai district by one of the city bus services, which operate daily. The bus station is close to the airport. It will cost 1.5 drachmas to travel by bus.
Hotel prices in this area are not as high as those off the coast, because you have to get to the beach by taxi or bus. There are only the most famous hotels in the area. Among them are 2 14-story buildings of Al Murooj Rotana Hotel & Suites, in which there is a transfer to the beach. Crowne Plaza Dubai, opposite the Dubai World Trade Center, is a 15-minute drive from the airport. Novotel World Trade Centre is close to the shopping center. The Sava Hotel is a short walk from the Al Fahidi Mall.
On the shore of Dubai Bay is the village of Heretjej Vilaj. The Historical and Ethnographic Museum gives the opportunity to see the former Bedouin life, to get acquainted with methods and materials of building houses. When you enter the village, you will be able to visit the existing market where, like centuries ago, artisans sell their goods.
A more detailed study of Dubai’s past can be found in the Al-Fahid Fortress Museum. This fort was built in 1780 and has survived to this day, becoming a historical monument. Unique dioramas created with the use of modern technologies will bathe visitors in pictures about the lives of fishermen and nomads, traders, and peasants. The amazing possibilities of modern technology will even drive tourists to the bottom of the sea.
The small Wafi Shopping Centre in Dubai is very popular with local residents. You don’t have to deal with a lot of shopping around here, and you can take kids to an Encounter Zone entertainment center. According to tourists, prices in the complex are lower, but the product selection is good.
You can find boutiques of famous Middle Eastern brands and jewelry shops. The architects of the complex, of which the shopping center is a part, emphasized the Egyptian style, so it is not surprising that Wafi resembles a pyramid. The complex includes a five-star hotel, a nightclub, and restaurants.
The Burjaman Mall is located at Bar Dubai on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road. Here, fashion legislators prefer to open their boutiques. A recent renovation has increased the size of the center and now has more than 300 stores. There are numerous cafés and restaurants, spa centers and beauty salons, jewelry and jewelry shops. The Burjaman Mall is easily accessible by subway, the station is called Bargeman. There is a large underground parking fee, which is paid only on Fridays and holidays.
Coming to Dubai with the children, many go to Wonder Land Amusement Park.
