Careem Launches All-in-One Corporate Expense Platform in UAE

Careem has expanded its corporate offerings with the launch of a comprehensive business payments solution, designed to simplify expense management for companies across the UAE. The new service, integrated into the Careem for Business platform, allows employees to charge work-related expenses for rides, food orders, groceries, and package deliveries directly to a central company account.

This move eliminates the need for traditional reimbursement claims, offering finance and administrative teams a streamlined process. The platform features a centralised dashboard for real-time tracking of expenditures, with options to set spending limits by category, department, or time of day. Employees can easily switch to a “Business” profile within the Careem app to utilise their corporate allowances.

“Submitting expense reports and reimbursements can be a headache for employees, office managers, and finance teams,” stated Bassel Al Nahlaoui, Careem’s Chief Business Officer. “Careem for Business removes that burden by giving companies a simple, transparent way to manage work-related expenses.”

The expansion builds on the success of Careem’s existing corporate ride-hailing service, which has already facilitated over one million bookings. By integrating its diverse services—including Careem Rides, Food, Quik, Shops, and Box—Careem becomes the first platform in the Middle East to offer such a unified business account.

This initiative aligns with a broader trend of digitalisation and automation in corporate services, similar to the government’s push for efficiency with new systems like the AI-powered work permit approvals. The tool is expected to bring greater transparency and control over corporate spending, an area of focus for many firms adapting to the UAE’s evolving fiscal landscape, which includes high corporate tax compliance.

Founded in 2012 and acquired by Uber in 2019, Careem continues to evolve its “super app” ecosystem, moving beyond mobility to encompass a wide range of digital services for both individual and corporate clients in the region.
