Sheikh Mohammed Approves Mohammed Bin Rashid Endowment District Board of Trustees

Board Structure and Leadership

Mattar Al Tayer has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with nine members confirmed to oversee the landmark project. Board members include Saeed Al Eter, Mirwais Azizi, Marwan Bin Ghalita, Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Rashid Ali Al Falasi, Masood Mohamed Sharif, Dr Mahdi Fardan Al Fardan, Farhad Mirwais Azizi, and Dr Shaista Mirwais Azizi.

Project Scope and Innovation

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Endowment District represents a pioneering model in the region, integrating modern housing, commercial facilities, healthcare services, and educational institutions within a single development. Spanning 2 million square feet, the project reflects what authorities describe as an integrated urban vision designed to create long-term sustainable value.

The development is being executed through Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) with support from Azizi Developments. It constitutes the first endowment district model implemented in the Middle East region.

Financial Structure and Impact

The total investment commitment stands at Dhs4.7 billion, of which Dhs330 million is contributed by a group of investors. The financial model is designed to ensure long-term sustainability through revenue generated from residential, healthcare, and educational operations.

A key distinguishing feature: returns from the district’s revenue-generating facilities will be allocated to supporting education and healthcare initiatives globally, creating a self-sustaining philanthropic ecosystem. This structure transforms commercial success into ongoing charitable impact across worldwide communities.

Strategic Significance

The project exemplifies Sheikh Mohammed’s approach to development that balances commercial viability with social responsibility. By anchoring philanthropic work in sustainable revenue models rather than traditional donations, the endowment district model offers a blueprint for impact-driven development that could influence future urban projects across the UAE and the region.

This follows the UAE’s record federal budget approval for 2026, reinforcing the government’s commitment to large-scale strategic investments and sustainable development initiatives.
