Ras al Khaimah
The first thing you should know is that Dubai is about 120 kilometers away from Ras al Khaimah. By the way, the emirate is north of Dubai and it takes between 1 hour 30 minutes, and 2 hours. Of course, it is also possible to do this on a day trip if you want to see it. But you should start early so that you can visit the sights there. Otherwise, it’s not worth it and we would rather recommend spending a few days on vacation in a beach hotel. Then you will surely have more of it.

More and more tourists book a package tour to Ras al Khaimah and there you have the advantage that everything is included there. That means the flight, transfer, hotel, and food. So there is no need to worry about how to get from Dubai to Ras al Khaimah. The tour operator is then responsible for the organization. But there it can of course also be that one drives with a big bus at different times. Furthermore, these can sometimes be in the middle of the night. Then, of course, several hotels will be served, so you have to be prepared for a long transfer from Dubai Airport. It may well be that one is three hours away by bus until one is at the hotel.

It is certainly very practical if you simply take a taxi after landing at Dubai Airport. However, you then have to find a taxi driver who wants to go there at all, since it is a different emirate. As a rule, they don’t like to go there and the taxi driver has to drive back. So this isn’t exactly cheap. For a trip from Dubai to Ras al Khaimah, you have to calculate around 60 dollars. Then there is the return trip and it would cost about 120 dollars. But if you are several people then you can share the price for the taxi. Otherwise, it is certainly a transfer that is not cheap.
Then it makes sense to rent a car and drive from Dubai to Ras al Khaimah. You can do this directly at Dubai Airport. However, it may then be that you cannot return it in RAK. So you would have to keep it for the whole travel time. But that is of course also an advantage because you need a means of transport there. In the emirate of Ras al Khaimah, there are not as many means of transport as in Dubai that you could use. Tourism there is still under construction and the infrastructure is still being built.

But there are enough gas stations and that is no problem to fill up the rental car again. The prices for petrol, in particular, are very cheap in the United Arab Emirates. At some petrol stations, a liter of water is more expensive than petrol. Traffic is very high in Dubai and definitely not suitable for beginners. There are multi-lane motorways there and you could quickly become overwhelmed there.
Ras al Khaimah at night
A very good and cheap option is to use the Ras al Khaimah Shuttle Bus. This is a very cheap way to get from Dubai to Ras al Khaimah. You can also go back to the airport, which is very convenient. The buses run several times a day and various hotels are served, such as the Hilton Ras al Khaimah Resort & Spa. Then there is The Cove Rotana Resort or the Rixos Bab al Bahr. On the return trip, Dubai Airport Terminal 1 and Dubai Airport Terminal 3 are approached. By the way, the transfer is carried out with modern and air-conditioned buses where you can use free WiFi. You only pay 30 dirhams for a one-way trip, making this the cheapest option you can use.

If not, then the tour operator certainly offers this for a fee. However, you have to reckon with a long transfer time. Tourists who are well versed in the Emirates and have vacationed there several times can rent a car. So you are very flexible on-site and can go anywhere you want. If you want it cheap, you should use the Ras al Khaimah Shuttle Bus. You can also get there by taxi. But that’s probably the most expensive option you can do. The advantage there is, of course, that it is also the quickest way to get to the booked hotel.
