In principle, this is also possible in the Emirate of Dubai. But that’s not at all comparable to Bangkok or any other city in Asia. Then you have to know that the prices there are much more expensive than in Thailand. One is therefore not necessarily dependent on the taxi.

If you have decided to do a Dubai sightseeing tour by taxi, you can hire one for between 6 and 12 hours. That means you get a driver and a taxi for the desired duration. However, it is then a normal taxi provided by the Dubai Taxi Corporation. It is then not possible that you might only want 4 hours. Here you should rather use the regular taxis where you can then explore the city at a lower price.

That would be 40 dollars per hour and you have a taxi all to yourself for this period of time. But if you want to see more of the city then you pay about 1800 dirhams for 12 hours. So that would be 40 dollars an hour again. Basically, you can say that the prices are similar if you take a normal taxi. A trip there can definitely be a bit more expensive.
In principle, everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to do. You should already be several people for a Dubai city tour with a taxi so that it is worthwhile. For example, if there are three people, each person pays 17 dollars per hour. Furthermore, this is certainly not that interesting for one person and you should rather take a normal taxi. There you don’t need to spend too much money and you can go anywhere you want.

If you don’t have to watch the money then a Dubai city tour by taxi is very convenient. You can go anywhere you want. However, if you want to visit the At the Top viewing platform from the Burj Khalifa, for example, then you have to plan at least two hours there. Then the driver waits two hours in the taxi, which you cannot use. So you pay for the time you didn’t use. So this would not be recommended in this case and you should rather switch to a normal taxi. There you only pay for the route you drive. Furthermore, this would then be significantly cheaper and you save money.

A good alternative to the Dubai city tour by taxi is of course the Hop On Hop Off Tour. You pay significantly less for a 24-hour ticket and you also get to see the attractions of Dubai. There you have the advantage that the buses are constantly on the move in the city. That means you wait maybe 15 minutes until the next bus comes and then you just drive on to the next attraction. For tourists who are vacationing in the emirate for the first time, this is a very good way to get to know the city. You certainly know the buses from other well-known cities in the world such as London, Paris or New York.
In our opinion, it is usually much cheaper if you only use a taxi for the routes that you drive. It’s not worth hiring a taxi for 6 or 12 hours. It’s much cheaper in Thailand and there it doesn’t matter if the driver has to wait 30 minutes for the attraction to be viewed. Of course, the Dubai city tour by taxi is very convenient. However, you then have to spend more money on it. There are around 5,000 taxis all over the city and you don’t have to wait long. So you can use them to get to the other attraction quickly. There are also many alternatives that you can use. Many hotels in Dubai offer free shuttle buses to hotel guests. You will be driven there to the big shopping centers like the Mall of the Emirates.
